The B-52 Band-Pass enclosures combine 18"
long-throw subwoofer(s) and a compact 4th order band-pass design
which features a sealed top chamber and a tuned port bottom chamber
that acoustically eliminates upper frequencies. Acoustic dampening
material is also applied to the ported chamber to further eliminate
mid/high frequencies. This allows the B-52 band-pass series
subwoofers to reproduce undistorted and powerful bass without the use
of an electronic crossover.
Construction
Each cabinet is constructed of seven layer,
3/4" void-free plywood and finished with impact resistant black
carpet. Accessories include: custom handles, metal corners, rubber
feet and a terminal plate with (2) 1/4" phone jacks and (1) Neutrik
NL 4 Speakon connector. A 3/4" plexi-glass window provides protection
from the elements and allows you to see the B-52 subwoofer(s) at
work.
Band-Pass Advantages
Band-pass design has distinct advantages
over traditional direct-radiating subwoofers, which includes: easy
system connection, higher efficiency (higher SPL) and the ability to
produce low frequencies without the use of an electronic crossover.
In addition, the sealed top chamber protects the subwoofer(s) from
damage associated with demanding low frequency cone excursion. The
B-52 subwoofer(s) are fully encased within the cabinet which protects
them from physical damage.
